Intrathecal administration of an opioid provides excellent analgesia during the first stage of labor without causing a sympathetic blockade.

  • In the presence of a heave the heel of the hand is lifted off the chest wall with each systole.

  • Right ventricle has pyramidal shape, with inflow tract in the base, and anterior and posterior walls and convex interventricular septum form its sides.

Getting it 'Right': Pulmonary Hypertension in the ED

Note the right sided structures tend to be anterior and left sided structures tend to be posterior.

  • Note the relatively smooth walled septal surface and the papillary muscle apparatus attached to the free wall side.

  • The patient is suffering from cardiac failure as a result of cardiomyopathy.
